A couple miles away, we have our 450-acre Mentor Lagoons Nature Preserve featuring 1-1/2 miles of wild, natural beach! Connected trails leads hikers through four different vistas, including an upland forest, the Mentor Marsh, the lagoons and the Lake Erie shoreline. A water trail has been established for paddlers, along with safe portage to Lake Erie. Kayaks are available to rent from the Marina Office! his City-owned preserve offers free use of electric carts for the physically challenged; they are available on a first come basis. The City of Mentor will customize nature hikes, hayrides, and kayak or canoe trips to meet your needs. This is an ideal nature stop for anyone visiting northeast Ohio and provides exception birding opportunities.

Immediately adjacent is the 700 acre Mentor Marsh State Nature Preserve. Mentor Marsh, designated as a National Natural Landmark in 1966, occupies an ancient abandoned channel of the Grand River.
